The Global Aquaculture Alliance is an international, non-profit association dedicated to advancing responsible aquaculture. GAA recognizes that aquaculture is the only sustainable means of increasing seafood supply to meet the world’s food needs. Established in 1997, GAA acts as a voice for responsible aquaculture, working with industry, the NGO community, governments and academia to address the challenges and opportunities facing aquaculture.Through the development of its Best Aquaculture Practices certification standards, GAA carries out its mission of feeding the world through responsible aquaculture every day. A division of GAA, BAP is the world’s most comprehensive third-party certification system for aquaculture facilities. GAA also does advocacy and education work through its annualGOAL (Global Outlook on Aquaculture Leadership) conference,Global Aquaculture Advocatebimonthly magazine and various case studies.
